I was in Best Buy last week picking up a GoPro camera. I knew that this video camera was on sale from checking the Best Buy website. There was a couple ahead of me buying the same camera and they were at the register. I saw that the salesperson was ringing them up at the higher price.

I spoke to both the salesperson and the couple. “Did you know that those cameras are on sale?” The salesperson said to me emphatically “Sir, I’ll deal with you in a minute.” He didn’t want to give the couple the discount, but the “cat was out of the bag” as they say! Even though he is not working on commission, Best Buy must view him more favorably if he charges customers the higher price.

Moral of the story–check internet pricing first, and realize that Best Buy will only give sale prices if they are asked to.
